We carried other people's blanks for years at our shops. Some of them were very good. None of them were the shirt we kept waiting for somebody to make, so we spent two years making it. Most of that was spent rejecting fabric.
The body is a 10.5oz, 353 GSM combed cotton jersey. The 1" collar is 14.8oz, 506 GSM, ribbed and set in, about forty percent heavier than the body fabric to keep it from loosening and preventing bacon neck. Collars are the first thing customers complain about so thats where we spent the money.
The cotton is custom milled for us in Los Angeles. Washed there, combed there, cut and sewn there, and piece dyed there. Every single step in one city, in the facilities trusted by some of the most respected names in American made clothing.
The fabric weight and finished weight are two different numbers. Most brands only publish the first one. We publish both. This shirt weighs 10.6oz in a small, 11.4oz in a medium, 12.5oz in a large, 13.2oz in a X-Large and 14.1oz in a XX-Large on a scale, finished.
Slightly boxy straight fit. Double needle stitching, shoulder to shoulder taping, preshrunk. Wear it under a jacket in January and on its own in July. Santa Barbara does not really give you a choice.
